Anticipated 2013 Book to Movie adapatations

2012 has numerous movie adaptations that I haven’t watch. Thinking about it, I think I just watched The Hunger Games and that’s it but I am definitely waiting for The Hobbit this December. 2013 has a few great line up again so here’s a few that I am aware off:

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (August)

I know a lot of you are excited for this movie since I saw a lot of cast and movie updates. I read the books but I wasn’t big fan but in spite not really getting into the book much I think I would watch it.

Warm Bodies (February)

Haven’t heard of it, seriously. Am I missing out on the good stuff here? I saw this on Ashley (The Bookish Brunette) the other day and thought that the trailer was funny. How was the book??

The Great Gatsby (May)

Again, haven’t read it. Bummer! The book has a lot of adaptations so far and haven’t watched a single one. This version though speaks to me, I think it’s because of the powerhouse cast.

Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters (January)

Technically not really a book adaptation since this is the after of the gingerbread house incident but got to see how they put a spin on a classic.

Ender’s Game (November)

No trailer yet. Haven’t read the series since I am not really a heavy sci-fi reader but 2013 is a new year so why not start right? Can’t wait to see the trailer.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (August)

No trailers yet but this is a series that I totally adore!! This is a no brainer. Will definitely watch this!!

The Host (March)

Read great raves about the book, haven’t picked it up yet though. Readers who have read it, help me out. Is it any good, the book I mean? :D

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (December)

Again, this is a no brainer! Definitely watching this one. Dunno why they made this a two part movie since it was originally going to be a solo right? The anticipation to think that The Hobbit isn’t in theaters yet! IMAGINE!! Another December release!!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (November)

Started reading Catching Fire and stopped at the middle and couldn’t go back – ugggg need to revisit the book before this shows.

Beautiful Creatures (February)

After watching the trailer, all I just thought was OMG I need to buy the book(s) tomorrow. I am soooo confused and enthralled with what the book is about though. Again readers, it is any good?

SIDE NOTE: I am not liking the guy here though.

So tell me, what are you most excited about? Have I forgotten anything?? Comments highly appreciated.

I didn’t know about Hansel and Gretel, but I SEE JEREMY RENNER. I want to see it.

Woah, Catching Fire is coming faster than I thought.
and I am very excited for The Host, Meyer’s Twilight series was mehhh for me, but I was ADDICTED to The Host (and maybe the fact that I was borrowing my friend’s copy and she was waiting for me to finish had something to do with it.)

I read Warm Bodies last month in the spiirt of Halloween, and I dont know if I care to see the movie anymore.

I didn’t even know Ender’s Game will be having a movie! goodie!

Hi Lilian, how was your experience with reading Warm Bodies? Is it any good?

I was expecting more from Warm Bodies.
It’s a rather poetic take on zombies which was a pleasant surprise. The prose was lovely and offered a romanticized view of zombies. But despite the lovely writing, it was a slow book…and it just feel into cheesiness towards the end. The romance wasn’t convincing either. The book does stand out as a literary approach in the multitude of stereotypically substance-less zombie fiction though. For the action lover in me…the book came up short. And I thought the book would have at least gotten points for being thought-provoking if it didn’t hand me all the “insights” on a silver platter. Not a bad book, but not spectacular either.

The movie might prove to be different since the trailer looks kinda hilarious.

The Mortal Instruments I have to say I am not a huge fan of. I liked them but didn’t love them. The movie just isn’t really calling my name either. I am sure I will get it on DVD. Now Warm Bodies I loved. Told from the POV of a zombie it is awesome and has several funny parts. I haven’t been to the movies I think in 4 years but I will go to see this. I look forward to The Hobbit. The Host I am not sure about. I really did not like the book. I can usually read a book in a day or two. The Host took me like 2 years to read. I just couldn’t get into it and would have to put it down then come back to it. Beautiful creature is a book I liked and the trailer looks awesome. Percy Jackson is a big winner as well. The rest I haven’t read so I don’t know about them. Sorry for the long post.

Heeya PamM. I am definitely curious about Warm Bodies but I want to read the book first. Have you reviewed it? I am really looking forward to The Hobbit really and Percy Jackson. :)

Warm bodies and Hansel & Gretel definitely look worth watching! Thanks for the roundup! I also cannot wait for the Hobbit (the first part, for starters…)

    1. Mary Grace says:

It sucks that they made it a two part movie and I hope its worth it but yeah excited for The Hobbit nonetheless. :D

I love the beautiful creatures books. I am excited for the movie. I am not thrilled about who plays “Ethan” though. ? I just didn’t picture him like that But I am going to try and see it anyways. I am also looking forward to “The Host”. I’ve read the host book, it was ok. It picked up about half way through. to me i almost put the book down before i got to the point where i could enjoy it. I am hoping the other books in the series are better and i am hoping the movie is decent. I haven’t read warm bodies but it sounds like it’d be something i’d watch & same goes with the mortal instruments. I am really looking forward to “catching fire.” i have to admit, i haven’t read that series yet. I heard it’s a great series. I watched the hunger games and loved it, even my husband loved it! i am planning on reading them before the next movie comes out. Everytime i watch the hunger games i always say “i wanna know what happens next”…….? I’d find out if i just read the books. lol

Haven’t read Beautiful Creatures but I guessed Ethan wasn’t what the book depicted -.- oh well. Same here, I plan on reading Catching Fire before the movie adaptation comes in theaters, I’ve read half of it and got side tracked with my other books hahah, that one needs revisiting soon. Thanks for dropping by Terri.
